Our wonderful listeners are organising an online gaming convention!
The Good Friends of Jacks-Con Elias is a virtual gaming convention that will take place on our Discord server. This will take place over the 10th-12th of July 2020. Thanks to our international listenership, we have games running around the clock. Everyone is welcome to come and join in!
What’s On Offer?
We have over 50 games on offer throughout the three days of the convention. You can find a list of the offerings on Google Docs. This document also contains links to full game pitches, which include details about the scenario on offer, how many players it can take, and any content warnings.
Please pay careful attention to the game times. The document includes timings for the UK, the Eastern United States and Australia. You will need to convert to your own local time if you live outside one of these time zones. There are plenty of online tools that will help you with this, including the Time Zone Converter.
How Do I Sign Up For a Game?
Game sign-ups are currently open. Fill in this form to register for any games that catch your interest.
To avoid a rush, we are allocating spaces in games according to a ranked-choice lottery system. Signing up does not guarantee a place in a game. Please make sure to mark multiple choices to avoid disappointment.
The cut-off for sign-ups is noon GMT+0 on the 6th of July. We will announce game assignments later the same day.
How Do I Offer a Game?
While we have finalised the list of scheduled games, we anticipate plenty of ad-hoc gaming over the weekend. Anyone who still wants to offer a game should do so on the Discord server. We will help in any way we can.
What Else Do I Need to Know?
If you would like to offer games, help with the organisation, or just learn more about the convention, everything is happening on our Discord server. Take a look at the #gfoje-virtual-convention-planning channel for details.
The convention harassment policy is available online. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the convention to help players and GMs with these or any other issues.
Thank you very much to Orbital Axolotl for coming up with this and bringing it together, to TRNSHMN and IPwnedMSCS for helping to organise everything, and to everyone else who has chipped in with logistical support, ideas and games!
